I was born and raised in Sao Paulo¨ Brazil. I started judo at age 5, competed at an elite level and was a member of the Brazilian Olympic team in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Over the years, judo has taken its toll on my body. I tried to stay active by practicing judo and doing cycling and triathlons but old injuries and 4 knee surgeries kept pestering me and my body was aching all the time. I’d get frustrated and discouraged until I found yoga. I’ve been practicing and teaching yoga and yoga sculpt for almost 5 years. I believe yoga helps with flexibility strength and mindfulness. I enjoy teaching power yoga to different age groups: chair yoga with Alzheimer’s clients and mindful yoga with middle school students. I hope my students can enjoy the benefits of yoga just like I have, no matter how old or young they are. I am a work in progress and forever learner.
