As you have probably heard by now, the order for the Bay Area to shelter-in-place has been extended through May 3rd. That means for now, our target reopening date for in-studio classes is Monday, May 4th, so hopefully May the 4th be with us! We miss you! We hope you are staying healthy and calm, and actively taking steps toward wellness. While Flex’s usual facilities may be off limits right now, we’ve still a lot of encouragement for you! Try and move your body every day even if for just a short walk or a quick morning stretch session. Although it may be stormy this weekend, it looks like spring is truly here next week with some really nice sunny and warm days, so we’re going to suggest some time outside in the sun (still following social distancing measures, of course). It can also help to practice mindful eating, really being aware of what you are giving your body, and trying to make food choices that nourish rather than just placate. Set aside a few minutes at the end of your day to meditate or write in a gratitude journal. There is still so much to be thankful for, and sometimes it takes just a small shift in awareness to notice. Take notice of your emotional state, try not to judge yourself and be compassionate towards yourself (and others), and accept that you may go through emotions of frustration, anxiety, or grief. We – and your fellow FlexFam – are here for you, we love you, and we promise we are doing whatever it takes to reopen stronger and better than ever. We can’t wait to be FLEXing our limits in our usual style!

We first would like to say from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to those of you who have the means and goodwill to keep your memberships active. It means the world to us! The start of this week had us needing to take a couple deep breaths, regroup, and plan. And plan, we did! We are pretty excited to announce the online program we are rolling out, and can’t wait to sweat, roll, pulse, and OM with you from a little farther away! We are still on for paint night in April, as well as the Flex clothing swap, keeping in mind that we may need to adjust dates as we go along. With the County order announced today to shelter-in-place, it is with a heavy heart we announce the studio will be closed through April 7th. We hope you all find some time each day to breathe deeply, roll your neck and shoulders, maybe do a few squats or living room pushups. Although we are sad we won’t get to see your beautiful faces in the studio, we look forward to being one of your best resources for wellness – just from a little farther away. We are hard at work coming up with options to keep us all connected, and we’ll continue to update you regularly as we solidify the details. Read on for all the latest details.
Hi FlexFam, we recently sent out an email update regarding coronavirus, COVID-19. If you haven’t seen it, please click here – and take note of related updates in our March newsletter. Please take all recommended precautions like hand washing, staying home when you feel sick, and covering sneezes and coughs to ensure the safety of our community. We have some fun events coming up, but are looking a little further ahead on the calendar for hosting these. For now, we are moving to a modified class schedule to limit the number of total people at the studio in both rooms, and we are also tightening up how many we can push in to a class. We’re accustomed to being nice and letting maybe one or two extra people from the waitlist into classes, but for the foreseeable future we will be a little bit more strict about limiting attendance capacity to better follow the guideline of increasing the amount of personal space between individuals. Well, we’ve all made it through the seemingly never-ending month of January! We’re looking forward to the rest of a great year and are so excited to share it with you, the best FlexFam any studio could hope to have!

Join us Sunday morning, February 9th, for a charity event that benefits the American Heart Association. We are hosting a bake sale with treats (healthy and not-so-healthy, baked lovingly by our staff and instructors) in the lobby. We’ll also have Angie Scott, the CPR educator that just recertified your Flex staff in CPR/First Aid/AED training, out with a table in front showing people how to do chest compressions on a CPR mannequin for free. It takes just a few minutes to learn and can be the critical difference between life and death in an emergency situation. Finally, the barre class at 10AM is donation based and all levels; $20 donation gets you class, $30 gets you class and a Flex with Heart shirt.

Join Lisa and Erika for a 90-minute offering that combines the luscious stretching and spaciousness of yoga with the challenging bodyweight exercises of TRX. Lisa will lead the class through a yoga beginning and ending, while Erika will pick it up with TRX in the middle for a truly amazing combo class that will leave your body feeling strong, stretched, and amazing!
